1. The learner is enrolled onto a RUN ID through QuartzWeb in the usual way - except that centre staff need to add ‘OPAL’ and the Tutor/Assessor and Centre Admin person’s email addresses, for the tutor/assessor and centre admin person responsible for this RUN ID/cohort
  2. The identified tutor/assessor and centre admin contacts are sent login credentials for the learners registered on the Run ID/ cohort, and forwards the appropriate login to each respective learner.
  3. The learner logs into the system.
  4. Formally assessed work, resulting from an Assessment Task, is submitted to the Assessor for assessment. The Assessment Task (e.g. AT1) will then be locked out to the learner so they will no longer be able to amend the work submitted (until its assessed anyway...see below).
  5. The Tutor/Assessor receives an email (optional) notifying them that there is a submission/resubmission that requires marking.
  6. The Tutor/Assessor logs into the system.
  7. The Tutor/Assessor assesses the work… with one of two possible outcomes:-

  1. The submission is marked as successfully meeting the related assessment criteria… in which case,
    1. the Learner will receive an email notifying them of this and will see a green tick for this AT in their OPAL eportfolio space
  2. The submission is marked as not yet successfully and requires further work and a resubmission, in which case…

  1. the AT ePortfolio is unlocked
  2. the Tutor/Assessor gives written guidance to the learner about what requires attention
  3. the learner receives an email notifying them that a resubmission is required
  4. there is a red exclamation mark against the AT requiring resubmission in their OPAL ePortfolio space
  5. The learner should re-submit their amended work for re-assessment
  6. (go back to point 5)

        8. Once all of the ATs have been submitted the learner will receive an email notifying them that the course/ unit has been completed, subject to moderation.

        9. The Internal moderator can now moderate a sample of the Run ID learners, prior to External Moderation by OCN London. (As with all accredited but ‘internally assessed’ courses, final awards can only be confirmed with learners after the External Moderation has verified the claims made by the centre.)
